Funeral Services for Jere Barrier, age 49, of Yazoo City. Born November 22, 1959, Jere Barrier, daughter of Jeanne and Jerry Barrier, died June 19, 2008, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was preceeded in death by her sister Nell Deen Barrier King and Nell's husband, Stuart W. King of Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her parents; two sisters: Angie Barrier Pradat (husband Paul Pradat) of Hattiesburg and Jeannie M. Barrier of Madison; three nephews: D. Barrier Mitchell and John Allan Mitchell of Hattiesburg, and Stuart W. King, Jr., of Dallas and New York, New York; two nieces: Judy King of Dallas and Ole Miss, and Clemmie Mitchell of Hattiesburg and the University of Alabama; three aunts: Dicey McGraw Barbour and Deen Barrier Graeber (husband Peas), both of Yazoo City. and Marie McGraw May of Vicksburg; and three uncles: Tally McGraw (wife Peggy) of Madison, and B. Barrier (wife Betty) and H.T. (Buba) Barrier, Jr. both of Yazoo City.
Jere's greatest loves in life were her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her friends, Ole Miss, St. Mary's Catholic Church, her dogs, golf, and Yazoo City. She graduatted from Manchester Academy, attended the University of Mississippi, and was a long time member of the Yazoo Country Club and the Retail Merchant Committee. Vitally interested in all civic aspects of Yazoo City and lovingly known as DooDah to her many friends and family, Jere was unselfish and giving in everything she undertook, and she loved life fully. Her sister Angie said of her, She never said an unkind word about anyone, nor would she listen to anything unkind about another person.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Saturday, June 21st, with visitation from 9 - 10:30am, followed by the service at 10:30am. Paulbears include first cousins Jay Barrier of Jackson, Hibbie Barrier of Nashville, Tennessee; Frederick Barrier of Indianola; Chuck McGraw, Richard McGraw, and Harris McGraw, all of Madison; Chad Graeber, Jerry Graeber, and B Graeber, all of Yazoo City. Memorials may be sent to Blair Batson Children's Hospital, the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, and the FIGHT Foundation.
